Oh Christmas Tree...Oh Christmas Tree...

It's Christmas time in 2023 and I've reach the wise old age of 64. Sixty Four.....That just doesn't sound right! Where did all the years go? I'm blessed to be able to recall much of my past and wow.....are there ever some memories!!!! I was just looking at our beautiful Christmas tree this morning and my mind drifted back to being about 16 years old. The thought of Christmas and Christmas trees led me down memory lane to a story about a tree. It may have been Christmas time but I'm not sure. It defiantly was winter, so it's very possible it was around Christmas time. The year would have been 1975.

I would have been driving my old 1960 Ford Falcon with no heat and I was spending an afternoon with my high school girlfriend at her parents home. We were at that age of wonder and lust...full of love and hormones. We'd been locked away in her small bedroom for hours and the afternoon was getting long. It would be dark soon. We'd been flirting with each other for hours in those tight quarters and something had to give. We needed to feel more passion that we could achieve in that small room.

I'm not sure what possessed us...but we decided that we needed to " feel the fire "and right now" !!! So without much thought, we put on our coats and told her parents we were going for a walk. Seemed innocent enough, except we weren't going to walk much. No, we were going to find a place where we could feel each others "ornaments" and make a "Christmas connection"...in the snow...in the winter!!!! We walked for a while and then all I can remember is my girlfriend grabbing a large piece of cardboard from the garage or perhaps by the trash. We found a large spruce tree that was snow covered with limbs that were touching the ground and resembled a snow tee pee.

We entered our makeshift Eskimo igloo and made sure the spruce limbs were surrounding us. We placed the cardboard on the several inches of white snow and straightened out any creases in it as if it were fine linen in an expensive hotel. Our "bed" seemed to be ready.

It was below freezing as we quickly removed our clothes. We kept our coats on... but unzipped all the way.... so we could feel our skin touching. Even though it was freezing out, our bodies were warm. We kissed and it didn't take long for the ol' yule log to arrive and we quietly made love in our snow covered fortress of sexual solitude!!! We were oblivious of the cold...in fact we were sweating as we quickly dressed. It was marvolous and so hot that I'm wondering how the snow didn't melt all around us.

After leaving the spruce hotel, we walked back to her parents house and when they asked about our wet clothes, we replied, "Oh, we had a snow ball fight" !!!

Just another tale from Christmas past...when days were psychedelic.
